The meeting was opened by president Mike V. There were 18 members and 4 guests present and we all recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Guests Corrine Oja Hanson, Diane Pelto, and Aileen Demenge then surprised another veteran, Sam Huhta, with a Veteran’s Quilt. These nice quilts are honorably given to veterans that have served their state or country in any service branch. Corrine spoke more about the “Quilts of Valor” program.
Guest Chris Beauquet Johnson, who works with Cheryl Meld, spoke about the Kids+ program. This program helps Kindergarten and Preschool children with reading. The children fell behind because of the Covid restrictions. They are looking for volunteers. Some people from Carefree Living have even helped. The volunteer’s work is even covered by insurance. The structure for this program is provided mostly by AmeriCorps and much of the funding from Covid Relief program.
Secretary Tom read the minutes of the October 4th meeting. It was motioned to approve by Bob, seconded by Cheryl, and passed.
Gil read the treasurer’s report. We made $504 on our pancake breakfast and had total income of $564, expenses were $595, and now we have $4967 in the money market. The report was approved, seconded by Jim, & passed unanimously. We have some bills to pay: 10 pies to feed 100, Tamarack Pest control, Voyager Press, and Darla for supplies. Also, will be receiving $150 for hall rentals and had a donation of $25. Bill paying motion to approve by Jim and seconded by Mary and passed.
We were sorry to hear that Ed Westmoreland had a heart attack. He needed a quintuple bypass and heart valve replacement. He has been recuperating at a St. Cloud hospital. It will be difficult for him when he gets home because of the large 14 step stairway and will need some outside help for a while. Need to send him a card.

displayed. Any leftover unsold raffle tickets will be sold as people come in
to eat. The door prizes will be announced at intervals from 6 – 8 PM. Jack
Huhta has volunteered to be the MC. He will get help from a few young people.
Silent auction will terminate at 7:30 PM. Raffle winners will be drawn at 8
PM.
There was a lot of discussion on putting on pancake
breakfasts and spaghetti dinners. Records show that attendance tends to go up
and down. A short downward trend doesn’t mean we should worry about making
enough money. Even if we don’t make too much money, these events are lot of
fun for both the people putting them on and the customers that come. It’s a
public service. Our raffles, silent auctions, bake sales tend to be dependable
money makers even if there might be a small loss on the meal.
The Christmas party will be at Jack’s Shack.
Motion to adjourn made by Mary, seconded by Linda.
